MAJOR GENERAL
OSCAR WESTOVER

Appointed to the high position that he has understudied as assistant for four years General Westover has become chief of the army air corps at the moment when our aerial forces are expanding to history-making strength. Americas air future has been placed in expert hands. Born in Michigan in 1883 General Westover has been in the army since 1901 he joined the air force when it was still part of the signal corps in World War days and has since performed all sorts of aviation duties. He is a trained balloonist as well as airplane pilot. Since the air corps reorganization last year that created a separate G.H.Q. air force the office of chief of the air corps has been devoted largely to procurementseeing that army fliers get good planes and plenty of them. One of General Westovers first official acts was to reject bids for 82 new pursuits as unworthy. Under his plans our air corps will equal the best in the world.
